What is hazardous waste?

It is a type of waste that is dangerous to people, animals or the environment. Examples include:

  • Chemical wastes
  • Healthcare wastes
  • Electrical or electronic equipment containing hazardous components such as cathode ray tubes
  • Lead-acid batteries

Who needs to be registered?

All types of premises that produce more than 500kg of hazardous waste per year.

If a premises produces less than 500kg per year then they are exempt from registration

To reduce environmental impact batteries will be decanted from your site collection container into a bulk container leaving you with your empty box to be refilled.

If however your battery collection box is in poor repair please select the number of new boxes you require from the drop down menu. These will be delivered when collection occurs.
